Courage, Honour, Dignity, Courtesy and Nobleness
Enid and Geraint
Roland Wheelwright (1870-1955)
Sir Geraint, also known as Erec, was one of the first knights in Arthurian romance to embark as a knight errant on a journey of chivalric encounters.
As Sir Erec, Geraint was the hero of the first romance written by the poet Chrétien de Troyes, Érec et Enide (c.1170). These marvelous adventures included combats against magical foes, visits to spellbound castles and intense jousts with unknown knights, events that inspired jousts of war and stately pas d’armes tournaments in the 14th and 15th centuries.
